Urban Detritus prompts the urban dweller to take a second look at their environment. These small plaster works are placed in marginal areas around city environments.
Where rubbish would normally reside there are small works of art, hand crafted and individualised.
Urban Detritus rewards investigation of the viewers own environment. not all things can be taken at face value. taking the opportunity and time to not just look but ‘see’ and analyse your immediate environment can enlighten you to spaces and objects you may otherwise miss in the everyday.
The edition of this work begun in December 2009 and is primarily cast from plaster.
The work will continue to be made as long as the mould holds. Once the mould is beyond service this particular form will no longer be created.
Each individual piece will be inscribed with a unique ID code.
I encourage you if you have this code to drop me a line with your contact details as I wish to create a provenance database of the FreeArt projects so that the 'custodians' of these works can be included in the future display or creation of new work.
