The work can be seen live HERE
Exhibited as part of the Estuary Artworks 2012 this online animation was accessible through a QR code embedded in a physical work in the gallery space.
The online animation is sped up to hasten the changes in tidal flow of the entire Tamaki estuary to mimick the cardio vascular system of humans.
All too often we take our natural surrounds for granted. The passing of the tides are often out of sync with our daily movements so we see it as extraneous to our existence.
This work is an attempt to bring this vast expanse of water back into a human scale, the work is accessible from a smartphone or computer and cycles at the pace of a slow breath.
It asks the viewer to look at their personal associations with the estuary and also its inherent fragility at the will of society.
